Poplin & Leather

Happy Wednesday Everyone!
As we all know, my love for leather is unconditional. I have paired it with graphic tees, sweaters, knits, you name it and I have styled a leather skirt with it. (Except for a poplin shirt)
I am trying to step out of my comfort zone more and also pair unusual fabrications together that I wouldn't normally wear.
I recently bought this amazing polka dot poplin shirt and thought it would be perfect to style it with leather to break it apart from the "professional/business" type of look it usually reflects.

Show Us Your Style

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Mine was filled with concerts, Disneyland, and some major shopping damage for a fashion challenge!
I have been chosen to participate in a wonderful fashion opportunity among other L.A blogger fashionistas. It is hosted by the Beverly Center and we were lucky enough to be given $125 to shop for a "Fall look".
Might I add, shopping under a budget is quite a challenge!
We were only allowed to use two items from our closet and I knew I had to stay authentic to my own style, which is why leather were my chosen personal pieces.

Grunge. Edgy. Chic. These are three of trends emerging everywhere this fall season and couldn't be any more perfect since it very much reflects my own personal style.
For me, Fall is filled with jeans, leather, flannels and dark bold colors. Layering is not only casual but also chic!
I paired this amazing campfire plaid flannel with silver accents of jewelry along with leather. Currently obsessing over boots, I paired it with some over the knee boots to add some edginess to my casual outfit.
Lipstick has been my best friend for a while now and I think this outfit needed a pop of matte red on the lips, which is what I finished the look with.

This wasn't only a challenge but also a competition! While I enter to win the grand prize, you can also enter to win a prize by voting for my look HERE.
What are some of your favorite Fall trends? Make sure to join me and my fellow fashionistas on Oct. 17th to see who takes home the ultimate grand prize of the "perfect Fall look" ! Stay tuned!

Three Ways to Wear Leather

Leather is the new denim.
It is not only going to be a huge trend for this upcoming Fall season but it is such a versatile piece. It has become my go-to uniform and below I show you how it can be styled in three different ways.

~ Leather with a cropped top ~
In addition to leather, cropped tops are also trending in every category, ranging from t-shirts and woven tops to knits and sweaters. Although the cropped sweatshirt can make an outfit casual, adding a touch of edge with the leather mini skirt can take this outfit from day to night. I added a reflective clutch with a bold lip to play up the leather more and add some shine.

~ Leather with a graphic tee ~
My obsession with graphic tees is growing everyday. Although graphic tees are more summer wear, you can transition it into fall by adding a leather skirt with any outerwear pieces. Here, I took it one step further with my smoke eye makeup to give this outfit more of a grunge rocker look.

~ Leather with denim ~
I love using denim as a contrast for my dressy, edgy pieces in my wardrobe. I've worn this chambray top with denim before but here, I wanted to pair it with leather to make it more playful with different textures and fabrications. Pairing it with a pop color accessory can take any outfit and add a fun factor to it. Here, I paired it with a red beanie making it a perfect transition for fall.

Which is your favorite look? How would you style a leather skirt?

Merci Bien

Happy Friday!

Although it’s summer and really warm in L.A, I can’t seem to give up leather and there’s definitely more to come in Fall. I paired my leather skirt (which has now become a basic staple in my closet) with a cropped sweatshirt for a fun look for the Bruno Mars concert this past weekend. My new clutch from Zara and Sole Society pumps quickly have grown to become my two new favorite obsessions and been accessorized with almost every outfit. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Love you all!
