Classics with a Twist

When asked to define classic staple pieces, the first three items I always refer back to are the white blouse, black blazer, and a pair of black pumps. These three items along with a few others are key pieces that can transition into any season and are truly timeless.
Fashion has seen trends come and go, but the basics are forever.

You can rest assured that these key pieces will never go out of style but in my case, I own one too many and it can get a bit ordinary and repetitive. I chose to go on the hunt for a classic blouse and a pair of new pumps. Although, the bow-tie trend seemed a bit daring for me, I decided to give it a shot and try something new. The bow tie is definitely menswear influenced but it also has a soft, romantic feminine detail to it.

I completely fell in love with the detail and now want this shirt in every print and style!
This style looks great tucked into high-waisted pants or skirts and surely can transform any outfit to a chic polished look.

What are your thoughts on the bow tie blouse trend? Will you be trying it?
I would love to know.

Lillian

Peplum & Plaid

Happy Monday my loves!
I hope you all had an amazing weekend and excited for a new week!
Our weather here in L.A was really nice so I took advantage of the 80 degrees and spent some time outside. As everyone is gearing up for a storm on the East Coast, I definitely kept my outfit, light, sheer and fun.

Blanket scarves were definitely a big trend for us this year and will be an even bigger trend this upcoming fall. Its square poncho shape allows you to add a chic layer to complete your outfit but can add a pop to your ensemble in any print or color.

The Sleeveless Coat

Do we call it a sleeveless coat or a really long vest?
It's definitely menswear inspired and instantly adds a layer of polish to your ensemble.
Do we love it? I vote for a big yes!
It's an outerwear piece that it's easy to layer and makes any outfit chic and sophisticated.

To make this look work, select a monochromatic scheme of whites, blacks, and greys - and be bold!
This look is timeless but you can definitely have fun with it.
I kept it classic in black and white and kept the accessories as my daring pieces.

With the new year, there are a lot of special collaborations and projects that I can't wait to share with you! Starting off with a $300 VISA gift card giveaway on Thursday!

The Tuxedo Blazer

Living in LA presents a small challenge when it comes to winter dressing. I envy all of my friends and family that post pictures all wrapped up on social media. Being a California girl, a pair of over the knee boots and a skirt can take you a long way during winter time.

I have been looking for the perfect over the knee boots for a long time! Although splurging on the infamous Stuart Weitzman was ideal, I was able to find these amazing Zara pair on sale for $99!
I love an amazing sale, especially when they are an amazing pair of shoes! On my last post, I chose to pair it over denim for a more wrapped up look whereas in this look, it's more true to my every day style.

I love how boots look on bare legs paired with a more covered top half. Since the boots are suede, I wasn't afraid to fabric mix and incorporated satin and leather into my whole look.
We all know all black is super chic, but keeping the legs bare also gives it a subtle sexy look that can transform any outfit from day to night.

Denim & Suede

Denim on denim.
You either love chambray or you hate it! If you take a wild guess, you can conclude that I love anything and everything denim. Our weather consisted of rain this whole weekend, which resulted in me cleaning and organizing my closet and catching up on movies.

As for my look for the day, I kept it very classic in denim everything. Over the knee boots add a certain glam touch to any outfit and I paired it with a black long coat.

I kept the rest of the outfit very minimal and just added a bold red lip.
A touch of red lipstick can transform any gloomy day into fabulous and fun!
I hope you all had an amazing weekend.
Stay tuned for some amazing giveaways coming this month!

Trench Coat Staple

Let's talk about closet staples.

A classic white button up, the perfect black blazer, a chambray shirt. There are so many more and the trench coat falls in the same category. It's perfect for day and night and not only for the weather

Boo Hoo City Guide

One of my resolutions for 2015 is to travel.
Whether it's an hour away from L.A exploring the beach or somewhere tropical, I am definitely going to strive to make traveling a big goal this year (and of course, take you along with me on the journey)!
With that being said, New York City is definitely on my mind and it's been two years too many that I haven't been back.

Shopping in Soho, drinking coffee and eating pizza for lunch, walking and enjoying beautiful Central Park, need I say more? While I daydream, BooHoo has created a New York City Guide for all us, which includes a virtual map that takes you from one destination to another.

I plan to use the City Guide next time I visit the East Coast, and also dress to the occasion. Granted it's very cold in Manhattan, I chose this outfit for a day out shopping at Henri Bendel, visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art while grabbing coffee at Culture Espresso.

A black coat is nothing but a must have staple for cold weather. This one from BooHoo is actually perfect for our L.A winter days. It has a zipper that can take your coat from duster length to short for a night out. I paired it with slit skinny jeans and a white button up completing the look with chain detailed pumps and an infinity scarf.

If you're planning your next trip out to New York City or just daydreaming about it like me, try out the challenge and let me know what you think!
