White and Black

It is yet another Monday and still really hot in Los Angeles. It's going to be a busy week and I can't wait to share with you what's to come next. Make sure to tag along on Instagram: @StudsandSapphires because I will be taking you on a new adventure that I am really excited about!

A lot of you have been mentioning that my last few outfits have gotten you excited for fall and that makes me so happy! If anyone is excited for scarves, hats, and boots, it's this girl right here! I have constantly been on the Internet searching for new fall pieces and stumbled upon this faux leather skirt. I shrieked from excitement because it's the exact cut and silhouette I have been looking for, which resulted in me wearing it in 98 degree weather. Oh boy!

I will definitely be pairing it with various silhouettes but I chose a white embroidered blouse to keep it chic. I will stop wearing black when they invest a darker color is completely true. Since the outfit was very crisp and clean, I added touches of gold as my accessories.

Xo,
Lillian

Rethink Pink

When I think of pink, Barbie always comes to mind. Or is it pink macaroons? It was every girl's favorite color growing up except for the odd child that I like to consider myself. Growing up in a family of all boys, Lego's, cars, and sports occupied my time more than Barbies. Nonetheless, I did love a good dress up with grandma's clothes.

I was very hesitant and instantly gravitated towards the olive shades this past month but this double-breasted vest completely changed my feelings around. Fashion is definitely having an affection with pink and I think I am too.

Since I have light hair and a lighter skin tone, I opted for a pink with a kick. Although pale pink is beautiful, since I styled it with a skirt, I wanted a pink shade that would really amp it up.
Add a red lip and pink is all of a sudden a fashion statement and not such a "pretty" color anymore.

What are your thoughts on this trend?
Xo,
Lillian

Makeup Tutorial: Bronzed Glow

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Walgreens through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about Walgreens Beauty, all opinions are my own.

Since I am a tad bit obsessed with makeup and New York Fashion Week is coming up, I thought it’d be a good idea to do a step-by-step tutorial on how to re-create one of my favorite looks. The beauty of this look is that it’s super simple to do! I collaborated with Walgreens to bring you a look that is mostly using drugstore products. Wouldn’t it just be wonderful if you could have a go-to look that takes about five minutes, stays on the face throughout the day, and looks great everywhere? Well, that’s why I’m here to help!

Makeup is always one of the main trendsetters at Fashion Week and this season, I’m predicting “strobing” will be a big trend for the Spring/Summer ’16 season. We have known about contouring for a while now and it’s all about defining facial features. With strobing, it’s a much more forgiving way to bring shape and focus to the face. It’s all about a glowy look and using light to spotlight features of the face.
To start, grab your favorite foundation and apply to your face. Make sure you also use a primer prior to adding your foundation because it will not only make the foundation look flawless but act as a barrier and protect your skin from the makeup application.

I also add a little concealer to cover up those dark circles after a long day! I’m using the Boots Botanics Radiance Highlighter Pen to add a touch of radiance above my cheekbones as well as reduce the appearance of the dark shadows. It’s a very lightweight formula so I just use the tips of my fingers to blend it directly on the skin.
Now comes my favorite part, time to give my face some dimension and glow. I lightly brush Boots No7 Perfectly Bronzed Mosaic Bronzer to give my skin a warm golden shimmer. I apply it to my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, and sweep it under my cheekbones. Since this is such a beautiful sun-kissed color, I add a bit of blush to the apples of my cheeks.
Now on to the eyes! I apply Circa Beauty Color Saturated Eye Crayon on the lids and this acts as my eye shadow base and shadow. It’s a neutral shade, which I love, and it keeps it natural. My eyes are lined with Circa Beauty Vivid Vinyl Eye Lining Fluid and I opted for my classic cat eye. If you want a more subtle look, use a brown color that has a softer approach. Finish the eyes with several coats of mascara, No7 Lash Impact Mascara 7ml, and you’re all done with the eyes!
I added a matte lip color as the base for my lips, and then covered my lips with it entirely. I finished it off with the Circa Beauty Lustrous Shine Lip Polish for a super glossy pop of color.
What are your makeup predictions for NYFW? Share with me in the comments or share your photos with me on Instagram using the hashtag #Studsandsapphires if you re-create this look.

Love you all!

MUSTARD YELLOW LEATHER

The struggle between what is trending in stores and our current weather has begun! It is officially pre-fall both online and in the retail stores. Almost all brands are starting to release their first "Back to School" collections and gearing up for the colder seasons. Might I also add that it is currently 105 degrees in Los Angeles?

Our weather's ever changing and it looks like we are going to have a late summer. However, that won't stop me and my fellow lovely friends (all of you) from starting to look for the perfect ankle boots and outerwear. I am already so excited for Fall that I decided to bring my new hat out to play.

We discovered an abandoned gas station on our way home and thought it would be a fun location to shoot. I was looking for the perfect mix of edgy and feminine, in which this backdrop turned out great!
What do guys think?
Xo,
Lillian

Button It All Up

This post is sponsored by Target.

Hello lovelies!
Today, I am going to share with you my morning routine from waking up to walking out the door. As I got my Target Beauty Box in the mail, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to show you how I incorporate their sent products into my daily regimen. Their sample size is a great way to try new products and they always include a combination of hair, face, and makeup items.

Prior to getting dressed in the mornings, I always have to have my coffee. I turn on my coffee maker as I head over to wash and moisturize my face. Anyone else need caffeine prior to heading out the door? I am all for skincare and taking care of your face and teeth. After brushing my teeth, I always use a toner, cleanser, and moisturizer and let it soak in for a few minutes before I apply my makeup.
First, I apply the Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Toner after cleansing to prep my skin for day lotion. Second, I apply the Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Day Lotion to hydrate my skin. The formula is very lightweight and it leaves my skin glowing and ready for makeup.

Although, I do not use whitening strips on the daily, I incorporate Crest Whitening toothpaste twice into my daily routine, morning and nighttime. I will also use the Crest 3D Whitestrips 1 HR Express occasionally to not only maintain but to enhance the whitening effect. This product is a great little added touch to the Target Summer Beauty Box.

Then we are all ready for the face! To see the current makeup routine I am wearing now, watch my step-by-step tutorial in the link below:

Don’t forget to protect your hair from the sun! If there is anything I love more than fashion, it’s hair! It’s always warm for us in Los Angeles and the UV rays from the sun can damage and dehydrate your hair. I use the Fekkai Pre-Soleil Hair Mist throughout the day to protect it from sun damage and add a touch of sun-kissed shine.

Today, I chose to style my outfit in all shades of blue. I added a striped linen blouse to my button up midi denim skirt. I added a touch of gold with my sandals but mixed my jewelry metals with silver accessories.

Now I am all ready to seize the day! Share your personal morning routine with me in the comments below. I can’t wait to see how you incorporate your favorite beauty products into your daily regimen!

Culottes - The IT Pants

The culotte pant arrived in Spring, stayed through Summer, and is definitely here to stay for Fall! It was not only all over the runways but this new "it" pant is definitely a hot trend.
I have to admit, when I first saw the culotte emerge that I wasn't really so sure about the trend. It looks amazing on tall girls, but what doesn't look fabulous on them? (I think I'm tall and I'm only 5'6")
After seeing these culottes everywhere, I decided it was time to give them a chance and try this trend out. The best way to wear it? Go glamorous!
It's an amazing alternative to a flowing summer dress and I resorted for a jumpsuit with lace up detailing. I kept the style flirty with an ankle-strap sandal and didn't want to take away from the bare leg. This jumpsuit is the perfect piece to wear for your next girls night out. The dual spaghetti straps keep it feminine and soft, which is a great balance to the wide-cut pant opening. I added a straw hat, (current obsession) with an over sized tote bag to keep it casual and I have to admit, the culottes made me feel totally cool.

Another way to wear this trend is to style it with crop tops. Since the culottes have a wider silhouette, a fitted crop top will draw attention to your waist and midriff. For all my lovely ladies out there who think this trend is too daring, give it a chance! You'll be surprised by how much you love the look.
Fashion is all about jumping in so this time let's do it one leg at a time!

What are your thoughts on this trend?

Xo,
Lillian
